Another area that escaped the Great Fire of 1827 was Luostarinmäki (Luostarin Hill), which was developed in 1940 into an open air museum (Handicrafts Museum: käsityöläismuseo in Finnish, hantverketsmuseet in Swedish). This hill, and the Vartiovuori (Observatory Hill), are located about 200-250 meters north of the Gadolin plaques. .
